Since 2015, the Cleveland area art conservation center McKay Lodge Conservation Laboratory has provided annual contract Public Art conservation maintenance to various works of art in the Public Art collection of the City of Columbus. This followed McKay Lodge Conservation’s comprehensive condition survey of the collection and design of a VBA customized Microsoft Access database – both firsts for the city collection.
In addition to providing art conservation maintenance services, McKay Lodge Conservation Laboratory has also been called upon to review new Public Art collection commissions for issues of quality of construction, safety, and projected maintenance needs. This is an important service that should be a part in almost every commissioning process.
The annual contract has been renewed for the period November 1, 2016 to October 1 , 2017 at a not-to-exceed cost of $19,960.00.
