Emmett assisted the conservators and the company of McKay Lodge, Inc. before and during his college years. After graduating from The College of Wooster in Ohio with a degree in philosophy he joined the company full-time.

He is a conservator specializing in industrial coatings on art and artifacts, principally outdoor sculpture and military/industrial artifacts. Highly relevant to this position, Emmett is a NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) Certified Coatings Inspector and provides these inspection services on projects involving industrial coatings and painted sculpture. In addition, he assists with coatings testing, research and coatings applications at the company.

Emmett is our main coatings applicator on outdoor painted sculpture. He performs the work of color matching, surface preparations and applications of primers and finish coatings. This work is performed on-site and at our facility both outdoors and in our large indoor spray containment.

Emmett works independently and along with other conservators on the varied treatments of outdoor sculpture and public art, including work on all metals, fabrications by welding and carpentry, stone, masonry and mosaics, utilizing his knowledge and experience as an assistant to conservators at this company on these objects for nine years (2008-2016).

He is the company’s Assistant Projects Manager and in this capacity he helps organize principally the larger outdoor sculpture, monuments and architectural projects. At times he is the on-site project manager and quality supervisor replacing other conservators on long-term distant projects involving our subcontractors.

He participates in masonry conservation projects as a certified JAHN products installer and performs preservation fill and joint work on masonry and stone sculptures and structures.

He is also the company’s heavy equipment operator doing most of the rigging, moving and handling of heavy objects here for conservation with our crane and forklifts.

Emmett monitors our interstate truck fleet and driver compliance with Federal Motor Carrier regulations.

Finally, Emmett is the general mechanical maintenance expert here and the property management administrator assuring the facilities and its larger equipment are well maintained.
