In 2014, the McKay Lodge company completed its work restoring the interior walls of what will be the new White House Visitor’s Center. The company was under a total $233,947.00 initial contract and change order with Answer Construction Management Services to remove stains and repoint the interior limestone walls.

The White House Visitor’s Center is located in the Department of Commerce Building on the Southeast corner of 15th and E Streets. It has undergone a $4.3 million dollar rehabilitation. For some reason, our work was scheduled late in the phases of the rehabilitation after carpeting had been installed and exhibit cases were arriving. As our work requires quite liberal uses of water, chemicals and mortar on vertical surfaces, we were at pains not to cause any damages to the installations.

Everything turned out very well. Many serious oily hand stains that had accumulated over many years were successfully extracted from the stone.
